The SFO plays at Buckingham Palace!

On the 1st July, a group of the SFO played at a private function and garden party for charities of our Royal Patron, The Princess Royal at Buckingham Palace. The group played during a lunch in the state dining room, and then at the entrance to the garden as 3000 guests arrived. The fiddlers also played at the bandstand with the Blues and Royals, before being honoured by being presented to HRH The Princess Royal. It was a vert special day!

Happy 30th Birthday to the SFO! The inaugural concert was held in the Music Hall, Aberdeen on 22nd March 1980. The SFO has since given some 230 full concerts, and items in many other events. With audiences from 1000 to 7000 total attendance is about 400,000. Recordings have been sold in 70 countries, and broadcast widely. The birthday party concert is on 24th April in Aberdeen. Here's to the next 30 years!

New Website Launched!

After several months of planning, The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra's new website is launched just in time for Valentine's Day. How apt considering one of the world's great romantics was Scottish and a lover of music and song - Robert Burns. In fact, many traditional Scottish Airs and tunes were either written or adapted by Burns himself.

There is plenty to find out about this wonderful orchestra. Why not discover it's Roots or the Concerts scheduled for this year. You could also Watch us in action, or read some Press Reviews.
