Accessibility

The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra welcomes people with disabilities to share our enjoyment of traditional Scottish music. We provide venue access information, free PA tickets for people who need them and a warm welcome from our members. If you find attending formal concerts difficult for any reason then you could join us at pre-concert rehearsals in our major concert venues where we would be delighted to be your hosts. This initiative has proved hugely popular, for example here is one of many messages we received after a recent concert in the Usher Hall, Edinburgh.

“On December 30th 2019 we enjoyed more wonderful music and song thanks to the generosity of everyone involved with the SFO. Indeed we feel we are part of the rehearsal, because individual members of the Orchestra take time out to say ‘hello’. As you know the impact music has on people with dementia is quite remarkable. One of our members sang along to one of the less well known songs…..she knew every word……they just came back to her. Her daughter was thrilled. The power of music.”
