The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra (SFO) would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Yla Steven for her dedication over many years.

Yla has been a cornerstone of the SFO, as a founder member, player, soloist and leader.

Her passion for traditional Scottish music has left an indelible mark on the orchestra.

Since taking on the role of leader in 2019 Yla has helped guide the SFO with skill and commitment. Her teaching and mentoring of young fiddlers, many of whom now play in the orchestra, has been invaluable.

As the leadership transitions to June Nelson, we celebrate the enormous contribution Yla has made to the SFO over the years. June, who has worked closely with Yla as leader of the Second Fiddles for many years, steps into her new role with our full support and confidence. We know she will continue to build on the strong foundation that Yla has helped to create.

We are delighted that Yla will continue to contribute to the SFO.

We are looking forward to Dumfries where Yla will be with us in Easterbrook Hall on 5 April 2025.
